For the third year running, our Allotment stand at the Romsey Show was awarded a Large Gold Medal. The theme of the stand this year was celebrating the life and works of William Shakespeare, on the 400th Anniversary of his birth.
The stand was decorated with images of the bard and appropriate quotations from his works. These were interspersed between the attractive and diverse display of vegetables, against wicker trellising. Illustrations from the 15th Century showed vegetables being grown in raised beds, similar to today.
Louise Rennie, who again masterminded the concept and led the team said “This year was the best team effort both on the Friday, gathering produce and setting up, and on Saturday manning and breaking up the stand. Thank you all.”
