Welcome to the Romsey Allotment Holders Association.
STOP PRESS: Vacant plots – opportunity for new members (see below)
We are located at Southampton Road, Romsey, Hampshire where our allotments are a major part of this small market town community. Allotments have been worked here since 1885 and the Association was formed in 1942 to manage the 9.25 acre site as tenants of the Broadlands Estate.
We currently have 170 Members with the site divided into 217 allotment plots, varying in size from 3 Rods to 10 Rods (1 Rod = 25.3 sq m) with 5 Rods being the most common plot size. We play an active part in the Community and have helped schools in Romsey, participated in Transition Town’s Green Fair and the Romsey Show each year while supporting local charities by donating/selling surplus produce.
Do not confuse us with the allotments further down Southampton Road managed directly by Romsey Town Council (http://www.romseytownallotments.org.uk). Find out more about our Allotments including their history and view a plan of the plots on the site in our RAHA section using the drop down menu or take a look at the allotments from the air.
If you want to join us, our Waiting List is currently open to anyone living in the SO51 postcode area and in North Baddesley. New members usually start with a 5 Rod plot and should note that it will require a commitment of time and effort to productively manage it and reap the rewards – a guide is a minimum of 5 hours per week in the growing season.
The Government have produced a useful reference guide for those considering taking on an allotment which gives a good overview of Allotments in general.
To join the Waiting List, please provide your full contact details in the form below. Hopefully you will not have too long to wait before we can offer you a plot.
